– Our Optical Dispensers –
Elissa Tripodi
Elissa joined the Eyeconic family in September 2016. She first began working in an optometry practice in 1997, giving her almost 20 years of experience in the optical industry. Elissa has worked in both corporate and private optometry practices, in both Sydney and Gold Coast, and much prefers the individuality of working in an independent optometrist, where she can select from the best quality lens designs from the world’s finest lens manufacturers, including Carl Zeiss, Hoya and Rodenstock. Qualifying in the OTEN Tafe course for Optical Dispensing in 2014, Elissa came second in a course of 156 graduates, where if she had known that there was a prize, she would have studied harder! With a tendency for perfectionism and overwhelming desire for accuracy, her favourite part of being an optical dispenser is combining the technical aspects of lens design with a patient’s needs, and she relishes the challenge of complex prescriptions and unusual spectacle fittings. Providing bespoke lens design options is something that Elissa prides herself in be able to offer every patient.
Peta Hill
Peta started in the optical industry in Optique in Sydney’s Double Bay and Bondi Junction in 1974. Completing her Optical Dispensing course Head of Year at Sydney Technology College in 1975, she has continued to love working in the industry since then and is amazed with the continual changes. Although Peta is highly trained in all areas of dispensing, including mechanics, lens design, facial fitting techniques, adjustments and repairs, Peta adores the fashion element to selecting glasses. She remembers fitting vintage Diors and Cartier frames and gets real joy seeing them still come in for fitting again these days, lending new life to iconic pieces that have helped shape the industry. However, what Peta loves most of all is meeting and chatting with every patient, hearing about their families, discovering about their lives, and developing and renewing friendships. Then helping that someone select a pair of glasses that makes them smile is, in Peta’s words, “heaven”.
