Contact Lenses & the Coronavirus
Is wearing contact lenses or glasses better during the pandemic? With contact lenses, you pop them in first thing in the morning and that is it for the day. With glasses, they are often removed and put back on several times over the course of a day. On paper, lenses are the better option, as the eliminate the need for us to have physical contact with our faces which we need to avoid in times like these where hygiene is critical.
Do we need to take extra precautions when putting our lenses in? The bottom line is, whether you choose to wear glasses or contact lenses during this time, the most important thing to remember is to keep our hands clean and ideally sanitised. If you have always practised that then there is no real need to treat the pandemic period differently.
Subconsciously we all touch our faces a lot more often than we may realise. So at the end of the day, it is up to you. As long as you are practising good hygiene, it’s a matter of personal preference, but contact lenses are probably the safer option as long as you remember to throughly was your hands before and after you put them in!
