Children’s Eye Tests at Eyeconic Optometry
We love testing children’s eyes and can do so from as young as 4 weeks old. No matter what age, we have both screening and in-depth tests designed to assess ocular health, eye alignment and glasses prescriptions for all children. We also test for stereoacuity (depth perception) and colour vision standardly with every child. At Eyeconic Optometry, we often co-manage the care of many children with the Gold Coast University Hospital Ophthalmology department and help many children with find the perfect pair of glasses with our wide range of children’s optical products.
Contact Lens Fitting for Children
For those children who find glasses impossible to wear, we also fit contact lenses for children. From just a pair of disposable daily lenses for playing sports to highly customised rigid lenses for all day, every day wear, we don’t believe there’s an age limit for contact lenses. It’s all about working out the perfect option for every child. As long as we have supportive parents and willing children, we can fit contact lenses for any prescription at any age and teach kids as young as 4 years old to handle contact lenses. We often fit babies (as young as 6 weeks old!) with contact lenses to correct congenital eye issues and help develop vision, and for us it is such a privilege to be able to watch these children learn and grow over the years. We also fit orthokeratology lenses to help control the progression of myopia (short-sightedness) in children.
